Website builders with AI
Squarespace is a polished, all-in-one website builder: Blueprint AI makes a multi-page starting site from a description, you refine it in the drag-and-drop editor, and every plan can sell with unlimited products and free invoicing. It has no free plan, only a 14-day trial. Briks designs and builds the site from a brief or from a site you like, checks contrast before it publishes, takes every change in plain words as a version you can undo, and starts free. If a ready-made store that ships products is central, Squarespace is the stronger choice today; Briks sites take one-time payments and subscriptions through your own processor, and Briks builds shipping into the site when you ask. If you want the design led by a site you admire, with changes in plain words, Briks is.
As of 8 October 2026. Products change, so check their site before you decide.
Fifteen rows in six groups. Every Squarespace cell links to the page it came from; where the research could not confirm something, the cell says “Not listed” rather than guess. Prices are shown only where a US dollar price could be confirmed on Squarespace’s own page.

Squarespace generates a starting site to edit; Briks designs the finished site from your brief and references.
Blueprint AI turns a plain-language description into a personalised multi-page starting point, with pages, copy, imagery, colours and fonts; it can also generate images and custom sections. You can use it during the free trial, but publishing needs a paid plan, and from there the site is edited in Squarespace's normal editor.
Briks asks which pages you want and anything your brief left open, then builds the whole site. You can point it at a site you like, plus screenshots, and it reads its layout, spacing, type, motion and header to design yours; without a reference site, you can choose from three looks before it builds. The result is meant to be the site, not a starting point to finish by hand.
With Squarespace
Describe the studio to Blueprint AI, then adjust the layout and fonts in the editor and add products to sell.
With Briks
Describe the studio and add a gallery site you love. Briks builds the site in that spirit with an enquiry form for commissions. A piece can be paid for online through your own Stripe or PayPal account, and when you ask, Briks builds shipping for posted pieces into the site.
02Hosting
Squarespace includes a free domain on annual plans; Briks connects your own domain from Starter.
Squarespace hosts every plan with unlimited bandwidth and storage. Your own domain starts on Basic, and annual website plans include one year of free registration on available domains.
Briks hosts every plan, including Free. Each site is first published as a preview at its own briks.live address, kept out of search; Publish to production follows a launch check that includes links that go nowhere. Your own domain needs Starter or above and is not included free; the certificate is issued and renewed automatically.
03Changes
Squarespace edits by hand with an assistant; Briks edits by request, with undo.
Squarespace's editor is drag and drop, and its in-editor AI assistant answers questions and completes supported tasks on request. Three reviewers describe its design freedom as limited, for example by the grid overlay.
On Briks you describe the change and Briks builds and publishes it. Each build, change and recheck is a version you can undo, redo or restore, and you can test a saved version against the live one with your own split of visitors. If you want to look under the hood, the site's own files can be read and edited by anyone with edit rights.
With Squarespace
Drag the section in the editor.
With Briks
Type 'move the testimonials above the gallery'. It is published as a new version you can undo.
04After launch
Squarespace sells on every plan; Briks takes payments through your own processor, counts visitors without cookies and has a site chat.
Squarespace can sell on every plan, with unlimited products, a 2% transaction fee on Basic and none on Core and Advanced, plus free invoicing; it also offers scheduling, and AI Visibility tracks the brand in AI search.
Briks counts visitors, pages, sources, referrers and UTM tags without cookies, can switch on a chat that answers from your published pages, and keeps every form entry in the studio. On paid plans, its agents look after the site. Its sites take one-time payments and subscriptions through your own processor, and shipping is built when you ask.
05Pricing
Squarespace has no free plan and prices by region; Briks starts free and Starter is $16.
Squarespace has no free plan; every site starts with a 14-day trial with no card needed. Plans are flat subscriptions plus AI credits (10 once on Basic, 20 a month on Core, 120 on Advanced). Its prices are shown by region and the research could not verify US prices, so see Squarespace's pricing page for yours. Two reviewers say it costs more than competitors.
Briks Free gives 50 credits once for one site. Starter is $16 a month with 175 credits and your own domain, Pro $29 with 400 credits, Studio $79 and Agency $199. Each job holds credits while it runs and is charged for the work it took. Paying for a year gives 2 months free; paid plans are bought online at checkout.
06Ownership
Both offer partial exports; neither hands you a ready-to-host site.
Squarespace exports some content in WordPress XML: layout pages, one blog with its posts, text and image blocks and some galleries. Style settings, custom CSS, store pages and product blocks do not export.
Briks downloads your site's own files as a zip, but not the shared parts every Briks site runs on, so the zip does not run on its own. On a paid plan, database records download as JSON or CSV. Form entries are kept in the studio and cannot be exported.
These points come from named reviewers, linked and dated, and only where more than one source agreed. They describe some people’s experience, not everyone’s. Some reviewers publish their own tools, and older reviews may predate Squarespace’s current plans.

An honest split. If the left-hand list describes you better, Squarespace is the better choice today.
Tick what your project needs. The suggestion counts only what is known: a need Squarespace’s pages did not mention never counts against it.

Squarespace exports only part of a site, so the simplest move is to rebuild on Briks from a brief, with your Squarespace site as a reference for the look.
Copy the words from your Squarespace site that you want on the new one, and collect any pictures you own.
Add them to your Briks media library, where any project's prompt box can use them.
Describe the business and paste in the words you are keeping. Briks asks which pages you want and anything the brief leaves open.
Paste its address as your project's reference site. Briks reads its layout, spacing, type, motion and header, and builds a new site in that spirit with your words.
The first publish goes to a briks.live preview kept out of search. Ask for changes in plain words; each one is a version you can undo.
A launch check runs first, including links that go nowhere.
On Starter or above, add an A record, a CNAME for www and a TXT record. The certificate is issued and renewed automatically. Paid plans are bought online at checkout.
