How it works
Click it on the page
Choose anything on any page of your site, or find it in Layers. Double-click words to type in place.
Change it for each screen
Words, links, pictures, colours, spacing, type and sections, for phones, tablets and desktops, shown on the page as you go.
Publish
Your changes go live in about half a minute as a new version, with nothing charged.
What you can change
Words, whether they are written in a heading, in an item of a list, in a part used in several places, or in your site's details such as its email address, which then changes everywhere it shows. Links, and where a button leads. Pictures and videos, replaced from your media library.
The look of anything, in the panel's sections: layout, the space inside and around it, type, colour, lines, corners, shadow and opacity. Colours are your site's own, shown in the colours they paint, and the panel tells you how well words read on their ground.
Sections and lists. On the home page, move a section up or down, copy it or hide it; on other pages, move it or take it off. Move, copy or remove an item of a list, such as a card, a plan or a question.
The whole site, from the Site tab: its colours, its headline and text faces, its corners, light or dark mode, the width of its content and the space between sections.
Phones, tablets and desktops
Switch the width to see the page as a phone, a tablet or a desktop shows it. A change applies from the width you are looking at upwards, so a smaller headline for phones leaves the desktop as it is, and anything can be shown or hidden on each.
Hover and focus have settings of their own, so a button can change colour when someone points at it.
Sections, layers and pages
Add a section between any two: a designed one, drawn in your site's own colours and free, a blank one to fill, or Generate with AI, which shows its usual credit cost before anything is built. Quick Edit puts every word and picture of a section in one form.
Layers lists the page section by section, so anything is easy to find and choose. Right-click anything, on the page or in Layers, for its menu: edit, replace, duplicate, hide on a phone, move, or remove.
The pages panel adds, renames, duplicates and deletes pages, sets their order in the menu, and gives each page its own search and share settings.
Nothing changes until you publish
Every change shows on the page as you make it, and waits in a draft kept on the server, so it survives a reload, a closed tab or another device. Everyone editing the project works on the same draft.
Undo and redo step through it, the list of changes names each one and lets you drop any of them, and Discard puts the page back as it was.
Publish writes the changes into your site's code and publishes it as a new version, usually in about half a minute. A change the code cannot take is refused with the reason, and then nothing is published.
History lists every saved version of the site, who asked for it and when, shows each as it looked, and restores one with a click.
Comments, and who else is editing
Pin a comment to anything on a page, answer it in a thread, and name a teammate with @ to tell them. Everyone in the workspace can comment, a Viewer too, and an Editor or above marks a thread resolved.
Faces in the editor's bar show who else has the project open, the page each is on and what each has chosen, outlined on the page in their colour.
Ask AI, only when you want it
Rewrite words, make them shorter or longer, or change their tone, and have a picture's alt text written. Each button shows its price, up to 0.2 credits for words and up to 0.1 for alt text, and you keep the result or drop it before anything is written.
Ask AI on a section gives it a new design or fixes its layout, or takes any request you type about the part you chose. It is a normal change in the Studio, with its usual cost shown first, and Versions takes it back.
Check reads the page at the width you are looking at for pictures without alt text, words hard to read, headings out of order and links without a name. It uses no AI model and costs nothing.
When you need the builder
Something the editor does not do, such as a new element or another layout, goes to the builder from the panel, about the element you chose. That is a normal change in the Studio and uses credits.
Visual Editor in practice
Three example businesses, and how each would use it. Where a site is pictured, it is a sample Briks built for an example business, not a customer.
- 01Bakery
New hours, and the summer menu first
A bakery changes its Saturday hours in its site's details, so the footer and the contact section both follow, moves its summer menu above its story, and publishes both at once.
- 02Fitness studio
A smaller headline on phones
A fitness studio's headline wraps onto four lines on a phone. The owner switches to Phone, takes the size down two steps there, and the desktop headline stays as it was.
- 03Pottery studio
One more class
A pottery studio copies a class card, types the new class's name and price into the copy and publishes, then replaces the copy's photo from its media library.
