Team lead: one agent to run the crew

The Team lead is an AI agent that runs your other agents as a team. Every Monday it reads your goals and last week's numbers, plans the crew's week for your approval, hands each task to the agent who can do it, and sends you one stand-up. It never acts on your business itself and never approves anything for anyone.

Hire it

  1. Choose the project

    Where: Agents

Open Agents and choose the project under Project.

  2. Switch Autopilot on, or hire it alone

    Where: Crew

On the Crew tab, Autopilot hires the Team lead with the recommended crew: Team lead, Site keeper, Support, Leads, Site watch and SEO. To add it to agents you already have, press New agent and choose Team lead under Or start from a kind of agent.

  3. Give it your goals

    Where: Memory

Write up to three goals for the business in Memory, under About the business, as the kind Goal, or tell the Team lead in its thread. It reads the latest three every Monday before it plans.

  4. Check it is on

    Where: Team

The Team tab shows the lead above its crew. No lead yet means none is hired on this project.

Goals that workA bakery in Leeds

More weekend pre-orders. More calls about wedding cakes. Rank for sourdough in Leeds.

Each goal names something the studio can count: orders, calls, visits from search. The lead ties every task in its plan to one of them, or to something it saw in the numbers.

The week's plan

Every Monday at 08:00 in your workspace's time zone, the Team lead writes the week's plan: a few lines on what the team will do and the goals it serves, and at most 8 tasks, each for the teammate whose tools can do it. It reads your goals, last week's numbers, what the team finished and what still waits, and never gives a teammate something it already has open.

Decide on the plan

  1. Open it

    Where: Waiting for you

The plan arrives as one card under Waiting for you, with each task, who does it and why. It also reaches you by email or on Telegram, as you chose.

  2. Approve it

    Where: Approve

Each task goes to its teammate. Whatever a task leads to, an email, a change to your site or a post, still asks you as it always does.

  3. Or turn it down

    Where: Reject

Press Reject and say why under Why, for the agent. Nothing is handed out, and each agent keeps its own schedule. To change the plan, write to the Team lead in its thread with what you want instead.

Work between agents

Agents hand each other work, with or without a plan. SEO can ask Site keeper to change a page's title; Support can tell Articles that three people asked the same question. A task says who asks, what to do, why, and what to send back.

  • An agent never hands on something it can do itself, and never asks a teammate whose tools cannot do it.
  • A task may lead to one more task, never a third, so no chain of work runs away. A project hands out at most 10 tasks a day, and an agent has at most 3 of its own asks open at once.
  • A task not answered within 3 days closes, and the agent that asked hears so.
  • A task is worked in the teammate's own run and paid from its own budget.
  • Talking between agents never acts on your business, so it needs no approval, and you see every exchange.

When you write to the Team lead, it answers for the team: it hands the work to the teammate who can do it, rather than doing or guessing it, and tells you who is doing what.

The stand-up and the daily note

After planning, the Team lead sends you one stand-up, in its thread and by email or on Telegram, in this order: what waits for you, most important first, with how long it has waited; what the team did and the numbers it moved; what is stuck; and what is next. A task that moved nothing says so.

On other days, at 08:00, it writes Your team today in its thread and the notifications, only when there is something to say: what waits for you, what the team finished, what agents did on their own, and what is stuck, such as a failed run or a task not answered in time. A quiet day sends nothing and costs nothing.

Watch the team at work

  • The team: the lead above its crew, each agent with what it is doing now and for how long, its state (Working, Failing, Paused) and its last run.
  • Last 7 days: for each agent, its runs, time per run, credits and your decisions on what it asked.
  • Timeline: every run, task, ask and message as it happens, filtered by Everything, Runs, Between agents, Asked you or Messages, and by agent under All agents. Show earlier loads more.
  • Work between agents: each task with who asked whom, when, and how long the answer took.
  • Open a run to see every step it took, timed. Open a task to see what was asked, why, what came back and what it led to.

The tab updates live while it is open; its label shows Live, or Reconnecting if the connection drops. The bell at the top of the studio tells you when a run starts, finishes or fails, and when something waits for you.

Does the Team lead change my site?

No. It never acts on your business. It plans and hands out work, and every change a task leads to still asks you.

Do I have to approve the plan?

Yes. Until you approve it, nothing in it is handed out, and the agents keep their own schedules.

Is it useful on its own?

It leads a crew, so it is most use on a project with other agents. On its own it has nobody to hand work to.

What does it cost?

Its runs are paid from your workspace's credits within its own budget, 30 credits a month by default. The daily note is written without using credits.
