Exploring the dashboard
The dashboard at app.briks.dev is where every project, member and credit in your workspace lives. This tour goes through it from top to bottom, so you know what each part is for before you build anything.
- 1The workspace you are in. Click it to switch workspace or create another.
- 2New project starts a site, app or dashboard.
- 3Your latest projects sit under Projects, each with a dot for its state: green is live, amber is building, red needs attention and a hollow dot is not published yet.
- 4Your credits, drawn as a wall of bricks. Click it to open Billing.
- 5Home: a box to start your next project and the visitors across your published sites.
A first look around
If this is your first visit, take five minutes to click through these places in order. Nothing here starts a build or uses credits.
Check which workspace you are in
Where: Top of the navigation
The box at the top shows the workspace's name, its plan and your role, for example 'Free plan · Owner'. Everything below it belongs to that workspace.
Read Home
Where: Home
The prompt box is where most projects start. Once the workspace has projects, visitors, credits, your plan's limits and recent work appear below it.
Open Projects
Where: Projects
Every project is a card with a picture of its latest build and its state.
Try Jump to
Where: Jump to
Press ⌘K on a Mac or Ctrl K elsewhere, type part of a page name such as
bill, and press Enter.Find your credits and your account
Where: Foot of the navigation
The row of bricks shows the credits left. Your name below it opens Profile, the light and dark settings, and Sign out.
Open the bell
Where: Top bar
Notifications lists builds, agents at work and anything waiting for you, newest first.
Make some room
Where: Beside the logo
Collapse navigation shrinks the navigation to a rail of icons. Hover the logo to turn it into Expand navigation and open it again.
The navigation
The navigation runs down the left of every page. From the top:
- The Briks logo takes you to Home. The button beside it, Collapse navigation, shrinks everything to icons. Your choice is remembered in this browser.
- The workspace menu, with the workspace's name, plan and your role.
- Jump to, the search field for projects and pages.
- Home, Projects, Templates, Agents and Analytics. Projects shows how many projects the workspace has. Beneath it sit New project, for Editors and above, and the five projects you worked on most recently.
- The Workspace group: Members, Skills, Billing and Settings.
- At the foot, apart from the rest: Credits, then your name and email.
Each project listed under Projects has a small dot that tells you its state at a glance. Hover a name to read the state in words.
| Dot | State | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Green | Live | Published and online. |
| Amber, pulsing | Building | A build, change or publish is running right now. |
| Red | Needs attention | The last build did not finish. Open the project to see what happened and send your next message. |
| Hollow ring | Not published | Not online yet, or not live at the moment. |
On a phone
On a narrow screen the navigation is tucked away. Tap the menu button at the left of the top bar (Open navigation) to slide it in from the left. Close it with the cross, the Escape key or a tap beside it. Choosing a page takes you there and closes it.
Workspaces and the workspace menu
A workspace is a shared space with its own projects, members, plan and credits. A café owner might have one; a freelancer might keep one for their own work and one for each client.
Open the menu
Where: Workspace menu
Click the workspace's name at the top of the navigation. Every workspace you belong to is listed with your role and its plan, and a tick marks the one you are in.
Switch
Where: Workspace menu
Choose another workspace. The dashboard reloads in it, with its own projects, members and credits.
Create a new one
Where: Create workspace
Choose Create workspace at the bottom of the menu, enter a Workspace name of 2 to 50 characters and press Create workspace. You are its Owner, and the dashboard switches to it.
Jump to
Jump to is the quickest way around once you have a few projects. Click the Jump to field under the workspace menu, or press ⌘K on a Mac or Ctrl K elsewhere, from any page.
- With nothing typed, it lists your five latest projects and every page you can open.
- Type part of a name to narrow it down. Projects come first, each with its state, then pages such as New project, Members, Billing and Profile.
- Use the arrow keys to move, Enter to open and Escape to close.
Jo needs the dental practice's site. She presses Ctrl K and types
dent.
Only Northgate Dental is left under Projects, marked Live. Enter opens its Studio.
Home
Home opens with a large question, 'What should we build', followed by your first name ('What should we build next' once the workspace has projects), and a prompt box.
- The prompt box. Describe the project, choose Website, App or Dashboard under it, and press Continue. This opens New project with your words in place. Nothing is built or charged from Home. The line under the box says what a build holds and what you have, for example 'A build holds 50 credits; you have 50.' When a project of that kind usually takes more than you have, a second line gives the estimate. If you type a question instead of a description, it is answered under the box and your words stay where they are.
- Example chips under the question, such as Clinic bookings and Sales dashboard, fill the box with a sample description you can edit.
Under the prompt box, Set up your business online lists the steps that make a site real: build it, publish it to production, connect your domain (on plans with custom domains), turn on the chat, invite your team (on plans with a team), and hire an agent (on plans with agents). Each step ticks itself once it is done, and the list goes when all are. Hide puts it away on that device.
Once the workspace has projects, Home also shows, in this order:
- Recent projects: the ones you worked on last, a row of three, or four on a wide screen, with a link to all of them.
- Waiting for you, when something is: requests from your agents, and projects that need attention.
- Visitors across your projects: visitors and views over 7 days, 30 days or 6 months, counted without cookies, and the Busiest projects.
- Credits: the exact balance, with a bar for each of the last 30 days showing the credits used. Owners also see a Billing button here.
- Your plan, for example Free plan: projects, custom domains and storage used against what the plan includes, and Members, such as '1 of 1'. The bars turn amber past three quarters and red past nine tenths.
- Start from a template: your workspace's own saved templates, when it has any.
Projects
Projects lists every website, app and dashboard in the workspace, newest change first, twelve cards to a page, three or four across as the screen allows. List shows them as rows instead, twenty-five to a page, and the search box and State narrow them down. New project at the top right starts a new one; Editors, Admins and Owners see it. Each card shows:
- A picture of the latest build, taken after each publish. Before the first publish it says 'Not published yet.', or that it is building.
- The name, which opens the project's Studio.
- Its state: Live, Building, Needs attention or Draft.
- Its kind (Website, Web app or Dashboard) and when it last changed.
- Its address, or 'No address yet', and the credits its work has used so far.
The ••• button on a card holds more: Duplicate makes an editable copy of the published version, here or in another workspace you work in; Save as template freezes the published version so the workspace can start new projects from it; Move to another workspace, for Owners and Admins, hands the project to a workspace where you are an Editor or above, and the published site keeps running while it moves. Duplicate and Save as template need the project to be published first.
Templates
Templates has three shelves: your workspace's own templates, By Briks Team, and Community Templates. A template is a published site frozen as a starting point. Start from one, give your business's details, and every page is rewritten for you before it is published. See templates.
Agents
Agents is where the AI agents you hire for your projects work, from the Starter plan. Choose one project under Project, or All projects, and New agent hires another. The tabs along the top split the page:
- Team: the team at work, led by the Team lead when you have one.
- Crew: each agent with its state, such as On, Working, Needs you or Paused.
- Waiting for you: what the agents want to do and are waiting for your yes, with the count beside it. See approvals and budgets.
- Chat, Memory and Activity log: talk to the team, see what it remembers about your business, and read everything it did.
With a project chosen, a line under the crew says how many agents it has against what your plan allows, such as '2 of 3 agents on this project'. Once it is full, Get more opens the plans with room for more. See hire AI agents.
Analytics across your sites
Analytics in the navigation shows every published site in the workspace at once. It opens on 30 days, and you can switch to 7 days or 6 months. Four tiles give Visitors, Page views, Enquiries and Visitors who enquired, each with its change on the period before. Under them, a chart draws visitors and views for all the sites together, and the By site table lists each site, busiest first. Click a site's name to open its own Analytics tab for the same range. Until a site is published, the page says No published sites yet. See analytics.
The workspace pages
- Members: the people in the workspace and their roles. There are no seat fees: each plan includes its members, from 3 on Pro, and Free and Starter are for the owner alone. Owners and Admins invite people with Invite people, where What each role can do sits under the role choice. See members and roles.
- Skills: written guidance Briks follows on this workspace's projects when a task fits it, such as your tone of voice or facts about your business. Owners and Admins manage them. See skills.
- Billing: Your plan and what happens to it next, Credits left, and the Plans you can move to (Starter, Pro, Studio, Agency), monthly or yearly. Owners upgrade, move down or cancel here. See billing.
- Settings: the workspace name, which Owners and Admins can change, and the Danger zone. Leave workspace removes you; Delete workspace is for Owners. A workspace that still holds projects cannot be deleted until they are moved, and your only workspace can be neither left nor deleted.
Credits and your account
At the foot of the navigation, Credits shows how many are left as a whole number, with a course of ten bricks that fills from the left against your plan's monthly credits (on Free, against the 50 you started with). At 10% or less it turns to the warning colour and reads 'running low', and a banner above every page says how many are left. Click it to open Billing. In the collapsed rail it becomes a coin; hover it for the number.
Below it are your name and email. Click them for a short menu:
- Profile: your name, email, password, signed-in devices and preferences, and deleting your account. See your profile and sign-in.
- Appearance: Match the system, Light or Dark. The same choice is on Profile under Preferences, as Theme, and applies to this device.
- Sign out.
Notifications
The bell at the right of the top bar, Notifications, collects what happened in the workspace while you were busy, newest first. A number on it counts what you have not read. Opening it marks everything as read; what was new keeps a dot while the panel stays open. At the top of the panel, Live means new notifications arrive as they happen, and Reconnecting means the connection dropped for a moment.
- Builds and changes that start, finish, fail or are stopped, and builds that wait for you or for credits.
- Agents at work: runs that start, finish or fail, work passed between agents, what waits for your approval and what you decided.
- A new form entry, with its subject and page but never the visitor's words, and a visitor who asked the chat for a person.
- Credits running low, once a month, and site email that stopped because the month's allowance ran out.
- A custom domain that went live or needs attention.
Each notification links to where you act on it. Some also pop up at the foot of the page as they arrive. Pop-ups, at the bottom of the panel, sets which: Everything, Problems and waiting or Off. The choice is kept in this browser.
Inside a project
Open a project and the top bar changes. Its first line says where you are: Projects, then the project's name, then, away from the Studio tab, the tab you have open and any section inside it, for example Projects / Larder Lane / Settings / Domain. On a wide screen the project's live address sits beside its name and opens the site in a new tab. Once the site has been published, the right end of the bar shows Preview and a Publish button, or In production.
Under that line is a row of tabs in words: Studio, Analytics, Media, Database, Storage, Chatbot and Settings. Database shows once the project has a database, and before that only to Owners and Admins. Settings holds everything else, such as the domain, forms, versions and backups. On a phone the first line shows only the project's name, and the row of tabs scrolls sideways. The project page covers each of these.
Two more tabs join the row where they apply. Visual Editor, after Studio, lets you click any part of a page and change it by hand; it comes with a paid plan. See Visual Editor. Marketing, after Analytics, is where you write and schedule posts for the project's social accounts, once posting is available to you. See marketing and social posts.
