Pictures: made for you, or your own

Briks makes the pictures your site needs as it builds, and you can swap any of them for your own photos at any time. This page covers the two picture options, how to use your own photos and logo, how to replace a picture without spending credits, and what to do when a picture is wrong.

Choose how pictures are made

You choose once for each project. The choice applies to the first build and to every change after it.

OptionPriceWhat happens
Default studio modelIncludedBriks finds or draws pictures that fit each place on the site and cuts them to size for it. There is no charge for pictures.
GPT Image 2.51 credit a picture“Every picture on the site drawn new for it by GPT Image 2.5, at 2048 pixels.” Charged by the picture when the build finishes.
The price a picture is shown next to the option in the studio, and it is the one you pay.

Under the options, the studio adds one honest line: “Pictures the studio draws may also appear on other sites. Pictures you upload stay yours and are only used on your own sites.” If a picture must belong to you alone, upload it.

Set it when you create a project

  1. Open the Pictures step

    Where: New project

In New project, the Pictures step reads “Choose how the site's pictures are made, and what they cost.”

  2. Pick an option

    Where: Pictures

Leave Default studio model chosen, or choose GPT Image 2.5.

  3. Check the review

    Where: Review and create

With fresh pictures chosen, the review says they are added to the build's charge at their price a picture. Click Build it.

To change it later, open Settings, Preferences, choose in the Pictures group and click Save at the foot of that group. The new choice applies from your next change. Pictures already on the site stay until something replaces them.

What made pictures are like

  • Photographs of people, places and products in use, planned section by section. A section gets only the pictures its plan gives it; others carry shapes drawn in the page or just words on a colour.
  • No readable words, signs, logos or watermarks inside a picture. Your name and logo are set as type and as your logo file, never painted into a photo.
  • People in made pictures are invented. Even if your description names your team, a made picture never tries to show a real person. To show real people, upload their photos.
  • Each picture appears once on a page. Before publishing, Briks checks that no picture it made is placed twice.
  • If the build stops for your approval, pictures are made after the last stop, so none are made for a look or layout you turn down.

Use your own photos

Your own pictures and videos live in your workspace's media library. Anything in it can be used on any project in the same workspace.

  • Pictures: JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 25 MB each.
  • Videos: MP4 or WebM, up to 250 MB and under 5 minutes.
  • The library counts towards your plan's storage: 500 MB on Free, 5 GB on Starter, 10 GB on Pro, 25 GB on Studio and 100 GB on Agency.

Put one of your photos on the site

  1. Open your media

    Where: Message box

In the studio's message box, click Add from your media. A box titled Choose from your media opens.

  2. Upload or pick

    Where: Choose from your media

Click Upload, or drop files onto the box. Filter with All, Pictures and Videos, then click the one you want.

  3. Say where it goes

    Where: Message box

Its link goes into your message. Add where it belongs, as the box suggests: “as the background of the hero”.

  4. Send

    Where: Message box

Send the message. It is built and published like any change. Up to six pictures and videos can go in one message.

You can also attach a picture straight to a message: click Attach pictures, paste one, or drop it anywhere over the conversation. Each attached picture has two choices. Reference shows the look you want; On the site places the picture itself.

A message with your own photosA neighbourhood bakery in Leeds

Use sourdough-shelf.jpg from my media as the hero picture instead of the bread board, and team-2026.jpg in the About section, with the caption “The early shift, 5am”.

Briks builds it as a change and publishes. The Media tab now lists both photos, each marked “From sourdough-shelf.jpg in your media” and so on.

Add your logo and favicon

  1. Open Settings

    Where: Settings, General

In the project, open the Settings tab. It opens on General, whose first group is Name and marks.

  2. Upload your logo

    Where: Name and marks

Next to Logo, click Upload and choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP file. It is used in the header and the footer in place of the drawn mark. “A PNG or WebP on a transparent ground reads best.”

  3. Add a favicon

    Where: Name and marks

Next to Favicon, upload a square picture, at least 180 by 180. It is the small square in the browser tab.

  4. Save and apply

    Where: Settings, General

Click Save under Name and marks. If the site is already published, saving publishes it again with your logo and favicon. This holds no credits.

The Built with Briks badge

Sites on the Free plan show a small Built with Briks link in the bottom-left corner of every page, away from the chat in the right one. On a phone it shrinks to the Briks mark, so it never covers what visitors tap, and it is left out when a page is printed.

On the Free plan the badge can't be switched off. Name and marks says so in place of a switch: “Your site shows a small Built with Briks badge in a corner. It comes off on a paid plan.”

On a paid plan the badge is off. To show it anyway, switch on Show the Built with Briks badge (“A small link to Briks in the bottom-left corner of every page. Off unless you switch it on.”) under Name and marks in the project's Settings, then Save: a published site is published again with it, holding no credits. A site that moves from Free to a paid plan loses the badge the next time it is published.

Replace a picture without spending credits

The project's Media tab lists every picture and video on the published site, with where each one sits (“In home page”) and whether it came from your media.

  1. Find the picture

    Where: Media

Open Media in the project's bar and find the picture you want to swap.

  2. Click Replace

    Where: Media

A box opens: Choose the new picture. Pick one from your media, or upload one there. A picture can only be swapped for a picture, and a video for a video.

  3. Say what it shows

    Where: Replace

Fill in What it shows. For a picture it is required, because it is “Read out by screen readers and search engines, in place of the old picture's words.”

  4. Publish

    Where: Replace

Click Replace and publish. The new picture takes the old one's place everywhere it appeared, and the site is published again.

Replace uses no credits, because no AI work runs: the file is swapped and the site published again. It shows in the conversation like any change, so Versions can undo it.

A change asked forA café in Hebden Bridge

The hero picture shows a latte on a marble table. We are a working café by the canal: show the counter from the door in morning light, with the cake stand and two people queuing.

Briks replaces that one picture and publishes. The rest of the site is left as it was.

Who owns the pictures I upload?

You do. In the studio's words: “Pictures you upload stay yours and are only used on your own sites.”

Can a made picture show my actual product?

No. A made picture shows the kind of thing your business does, not the exact item on your shelf. For real products, upload your own photos.

Can I use a video?

Yes. Videos in your media go on the site the same way, through Add from your media or Replace.
