Billing, plans and credits
Billing shows the plan your workspace is on, the credits it has left and the plans you can move to. This page covers buying a plan at checkout, moving up or down, cancelling, receipts and invoices, the upgrade window, and how a request holds credits and then spends them. Plans and credits belong to the workspace, so what you see is always the balance of the workspace you are in.
Find the Billing page
You can also get there from the credits bar at the foot of the sidebar. It reads Credits with how many are left, above a row of ten small bricks that fill from the left as far as your balance goes against the plan's month (or, on Free, against the 50 you started with). When 10% or less is left, the bar turns to the warning colour and says so, for example "40 left, running low". Clicking it opens Billing.
Once the workspace has a project, Home has a Credits card too, with your balance and a small chart of the credits used each day over the last 30 days. Owners also see a Billing button on it. Anyone in the workspace can open the Billing page itself.
What the Billing page shows
| Part | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Your plan | The plan's name and its price, a month or a year, or just Free. Under it, one line says what happens next, such as Renews on 15 November., Moves to Starter on 15 November. or Ends on 15 November, then moves to Free. |
| Credits left | Your balance. On a paid plan a line under it says when the next credits arrive, such as 400 more on 15 November. |
| The buttons under them | For Owners: Payments and invoices for the person who paid, Cancel plan, or Keep with the plan's name while a cancellation waits. |
| Plans | Starter, Pro, Studio and Agency as cards, with Monthly and Yearly above them. Each card shows the price, the credits a month, the projects with custom domains and the agents it includes. Yours is tagged Your plan, and each button says what choosing that card does. |
| The note at the foot | Prices exclude tax, which is added at checkout where it applies. Members who are not Owners read: Only the workspace's owners can change its plan. |
If one of your public templates earned credits this month, a line under your plan says how many. Billing does not list each charge. To see where credits went, look at the total on each project's card in Projects, the Total shown at the top of a project's chat in the studio, and the daily chart on Home.
Plans
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Credits a month | Projects | Custom domains | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 50 once | 1 | 0 | 500 MB |
| Starter | $16 | $160 | 175 | 1 | 1 | 5 GB |
| Pro | $29 | $290 | 400 | 3 | 3 | 10 GB |
| Studio | $79 | $790 | 1,200 | 10 | 10 | 25 GB |
| Agency | $199 | $1,990 | 3,000 | 30 | 30 | 100 GB |
Free gives 50 credits once, with your first workspace, and nothing after that: there is no daily or monthly top up on Free. Paid plans add their credits each month. Starter is the smallest paid plan: 1 project with a custom domain, 175 credits a month and 5 GB of storage. If you need more than Agency includes, write to hello@briks.dev and a larger plan is set up with you. The pricing page has the full comparison.
The plan also sets a few allowances that are not paid in credits:
| Plan | Team members | Agents | Site emails a month | Scheduled tasks per project | Webhooks per project |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 | None | 300 | 1 | 1 |
| Starter | 1 | 3 in all | 2,000 | 5 | 5 |
| Pro | 3 | 5 per project | 5,000 | 10 | 10 |
| Studio | 10 | 10 per project | 15,000 | 25 | 25 |
| Agency | 25 | 15 per project | 50,000 | 50 | 50 |
To see how much of the plan you are using, look at the plan card on Home, which appears once the workspace has a project. It shows Projects, Custom domains and Storage as used against what the plan includes, and how many Members the workspace has. More on agents, site email, scheduled tasks and webhooks on their own pages.
Buy a plan at checkout
Only an Owner can choose the workspace's plan. Plans are bought online at checkout and paid monthly or yearly.
Pick monthly or yearly
Where: Billing
Use Monthly or Yearly above the cards. Yearly shows the price for the year, with 2 months free.
Choose the plan
Where: Billing
Press the button on its card, such as Choose Pro. Your own domain needs Starter or above, and inviting people needs Pro or above. The button reads Opening checkout… while the checkout loads.
Pay
Where: Checkout
Enter your payment details on the secure checkout page. Tax is added where it applies, and the receipt comes by email.
Check it took
Where: Billing
You come back to Billing, which says: Payment received. Your plan appears here in a moment. Then the plan's card is tagged Your plan, the month's credits are in your balance, and the workspace switcher shows it, for example Pro plan · Owner.
Picked a plan on the pricing page? You land on Billing with that card ready and Monthly or Yearly set as you chose, so one press takes you to checkout.
Move up, move down or change how often you pay
Once the workspace pays for a plan, each card's button says what choosing it does, and a window says what happens before anything is charged.
| Button | When it happens | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Upgrade to Studio, a larger plan | At once | You pay the difference for the rest of this billing period today, and the extra credits for the rest of this month arrive at once. |
| Move to Starter, a smaller plan | At the end of the period you paid for | Your plan stays as it is until that date. From then the smaller plan's price and credits apply. |
| Switch to yearly | At once | You pay for the year today, less what is left of this month. |
| Switch to monthly | At the end of the period you paid for | Nothing changes until then. |
| Keep Pro | At once | Shown on your own plan's card while a move or a cancellation waits. It takes that back. |
While a move waits, the plan it goes to is tagged From and the date, and the top of the page says, for example, Moves to Starter on 15 November. One change waits at a time: choosing another replaces it.
Cancel a plan
Press Cancel plan
Where: Billing
It sits under your plan at the top of Billing, for Owners of a plan bought at checkout.
Read what happens
Where: Cancel window
The window says, for example: Pro stays until 15 November. After that no more payments are taken and the workspace moves to Free. Credits you have left stay until they expire. Press Cancel plan to confirm, or Keep Pro to leave things as they are.
Change your mind if you like
Where: Billing
The top now reads Ends on 15 November, then moves to Free. Until that day, Keep Pro takes the cancellation back.
When the plan ends, the workspace is on Free: no more monthly credits arrive, and credits already in the balance stay usable until their own date. Refunds follow the refund policy, and a refunded payment takes the credits it brought with it.
Receipts and invoices
Payments and invoices opens the payment page for the workspace's plan, where you update the card and download receipts and invoices. It shows only for the Owner who paid, because that page belongs to them and can hold their other workspaces' plans too. Each payment's receipt also comes by email.
The upgrade window
When something needs a larger plan, Briks opens one window about what you were doing. Its title names your goal, such as Make room for your next project, Put your site on its own domain, Bring your team in or Keep building today. It shows where you stand, the smallest plan that lifts the limit with its price, up to four things that plan adds against what you have now, and what stays safe meanwhile, such as: Your sites stay live, and nothing you have built changes.
- Upgrade to and the plan's name, for an Owner, goes to checkout for a first plan. On a plan you already pay for, it moves up at once, and the window says first: Upgrading charges the difference for the rest of this billing period today. Afterwards it reads, for example, Harbour Physio is on Studio, and: The extra credits for the rest of this month are in your balance now.
- Monthly and Yearly switch the price shown.
- When credits ran out on a paid plan, it also offers to wait: Or wait: 400 new credits arrive on 15 November.
- Not now closes it, and Compare every plan opens Billing.
- Members who are not Owners see Close and: Only Harbour Physio's owner can change its plan. Show them this, or ask them to open Billing.
- When no plan sold at checkout is large enough, it says so and offers Write to us.
The same window opens from See what's included in a note about a paid feature, from Get more beside a limit such as scheduled tasks or webhooks, and from Get more credits on the low credits banner.
How credits are held and charged
Everything Briks builds for you is paid in credits. When you start a request, Briks puts a hold on part of your balance so the work can finish. When it finishes, the request is charged for the work it actually took, to the hundredth of a credit.
| Request | Holds while it runs |
|---|---|
| New project | 50 credits |
| Change | 5 credits |
| Site check | 5 credits |
| Agent run | 3 credits |
| Platform fee for a post | 2 credits |
| Question about your visits | 1 credit |
| Designs from your words | 2 credits |
- What a request does not use goes back to your balance when it finishes.
- If it took more than its hold, the rest is drawn from your balance. The hold is not a price cap.
- A request that fails is not charged.
What building usually takes
Before a first build, the New project form, Home and the studio say what building usually takes when that is more than you have, for example: Building it usually takes about 45 credits after planning, and you have 20. If it needs more than you have once planned, it waits there for credits with the plan kept.
A first build that needs more than you have once it is planned stops there, with the plan kept. The studio shows Planned and waiting for credits, with Get credits and Resume building. It never carries on by itself: once you have the credits, press Resume building and it goes on from the plan. You are reminded after 3 and 14 days if it is still waiting.
On Free, your first site is built in full whatever your balance. A change that adds pages and usually costs more than your balance is not started, and the reply says what it usually takes.
When credits run low
When 10% or less of the month's credits is left (on Free, of the 50 you started with), a banner above every page says how many are left, and that builds, changes and agents stop when they run out while your sites stay live. Owners see Get more credits, which opens the upgrade window. Owners and Admins also get one email about it a month.
How long credits last
- The 50 free credits have no end date.
- A paid plan's credits arrive each month on the day the plan started, and stay usable for two months from that day. Whatever is left after that lapses.
- Credits belong to one workspace and cannot be moved to another. Deleting a workspace deletes its unused credits with it.
Jess has 7 credits on Free. She asks for a new opening hours line on the contact page. The change holds 5, so the credits bar drops to 2 while it builds. A few minutes later it finishes, is charged what it took, and the rest of the 5 comes back. While the first change was still running she tried a second one, and Briks refused it, because 2 credits do not cover a 5 credit hold.
Waiting for one change to finish before asking for the next lets the unused part of each hold come back first.
Do I pay per member?
No. There are no seat fees: each plan includes its members, the owner counted. Free and Starter hold 1, Pro 3, Studio 10 and Agency 25.
Can I see the cost before a build?
You see the hold, and before a first build, what building usually takes when that is more than you have. The charge is what the work took, and it can be more or less than the hold.
Who in my team can see Billing?
Everyone in the workspace can open it. Only Owners can choose, change or cancel the plan, and only the Owner who paid opens Payments and invoices.
What if I need more than Agency?
Write to hello@briks.dev. Larger plans are set up with you rather than bought at checkout.
