Start from a template, make it yours

Start from a site that already works. Pick a template, tell Briks about your business, and every page is rewritten for it before it is published.

How it works

  1. Pick a template

Browse templates by kind and industry.

  2. Tell us about you

Your name, your words and your contact details.

  3. Published as yours

Every page is rewritten for your business first.

Start from a site that works

A template is a site built with Briks and made public: its pages, its layout and its working parts. Browse them on the templates page, filter by websites or apps and by industry, or search. Each has its own page, with pictures at desktop and phone width and a live preview you can open and click through before you decide.

Starting from a template is quicker than a blank brief when one is close to what you need: a bakery template for a café, a practice template for a clinic. You keep its structure and change everything that makes it someone else's.

Every template page says what the template holds, such as its pages, its sections and working parts like forms, and the kinds of business it suits.

Making it yours

When you use a template, Briks asks about your business: its name, what it does, your email, phone and address, up to six links such as your social profiles, and any notes. You also choose whether to keep the template's pictures or fit them to your business.

Then one job rewrites the template's words and details for you before its only publish. It looks for everything that identified the original business, its names, the people it named, its places, emails, phones, addresses and links, replaces or removes each one, and checks that nothing of the old business is left.

From then on your copy is a site like any other: change it in plain words, connect your domain on a paid plan, and switch on the chat or site email when you want them.

Good to know

Templates are on every plan, and you can start free with the 50 credits you get at sign-up. Using a template needs edit rights: Owners, Admins and Editors.

If you keep the template's pictures, they are the template's pictures, not photographs of your business. When yours looks different, choose to fit them to your business, or swap them later with Replace in the project's media.

If no template fits, start from your own description or from a site you like instead. Briks asks which pages you want before it builds.

A template, or your own brief?

Starting from your own brief gives you a site planned for your business from the first word, with questions about your pages and anything unclear before it builds. Starting from a template gives you a site that already exists, and you can open its preview before you begin.

Choose a template when one is close to your business and you want to move quickly. Choose your own brief, or a site you like, when you want a layout no template has, or when your business does something unusual that a template's pages would not cover.

Either way, what follows is the same: changes in plain words, every change saved as a version you can undo, and hosting included with every plan.

Templates in practice

Three example businesses, and how each would use it. Where a site is pictured, it is a sample Briks built for an example business, not a customer.

  1. Café

A café from a bakery template

A café owner finds a bakery template close to what she wants. She gives her café's name, address and a line about what it does, and chooses to fit the pictures to her business. Before it publishes, the template's business names, people and phone numbers are replaced with hers.

  2. Personal trainer

    Keeping the pictures for now

A personal trainer uses a fitness template and keeps its pictures to launch quickly. Over the next month he swaps them one by one for his own photos with Replace in the project's media, which uses no credits.

  3. Consultant

Links that point to her, not the original

A consultant adds her professional profile and her diary page as two of the six links. The template's own links are swapped for hers, and the check after the rewrite looks for anything of the original business left on the site.

What you get

  • Websites and apps
  • Every page rewritten for your business before it publishes
  • Keep the template's pictures, or fit them to your business
  • Preview any template before you use it

Questions about templates

Do I need a paid plan?

No. You can start free, with 50 credits when you sign up.

What do I need to give?

Your business's name and what it does, and if you like your email, phone, address, up to six links and any notes.

Can I preview a template first?

Yes. Each template has a live preview you can open and click through before you use it.

Are there templates for apps?

Yes. Filter the templates page by websites or apps, and by industry.

Who in my workspace can use a template?

Anyone with edit rights: Owners, Admins and Editors.

Will anything of the original business stay on my site?

The rewrite replaces or removes its names, people, places, emails, phones, addresses and links, then checks that nothing of the old business is left.

Can I change the site after it is published?

Yes. It is a site like any other: ask for changes in plain words, and each is saved as a version.
