# Website builder for builders and contractors

People choosing a builder are about to spend a lot of money, and they are nervous. Your website has to show finished work, explain how a job runs and make it easy to ask for a price. Describe your firm and the work you take on, and Briks plans the pages, builds the site and publishes it with hosting included.

Below are templates you can start from, the pages a builder's site usually needs, and a brief to adapt with your own trades and projects.

Start with 50 free credits. No card needed.

## Start from a template

Sites built with Briks. Pick one, tell us about your business, and every page is rewritten for it before it is published.

## The pages a builder's website needs

Clients want proof, process and a way to ask for a price. Tick the pages that fit your firm and the sitemap redraws. Briks asks the same question before it builds.

**Your sitemap** 5 pages

**Home**/

**Services**/services **Projects**/projects **Get a quote**/quote **How we work**/how-we-work

Briks asks which pages you want before it builds, with Decide for me if you would rather it chose. What you tick here goes into the example brief below.

## An example brief for a builder's website

Change the details to your own and use it as your starting point. The pages line follows what you ticked above.

Stoneacre Build is a building contractor in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, run by Dan and Chris Walker since 2009, with a team of twelve. We do house extensions, loft conversions, kitchen and bathroom refits, and new homes for private clients within 25 miles of Harrogate.

Every job starts with a free site visit and a written, itemised quote within ten working days. We handle building regulations and can bring in an architect for planning drawings.

Recent projects: a two-storey extension in Knaresborough, a loft conversion with an en-suite in Ripon, and four new homes on a small site near Pateley Bridge.

The site should feel solid and straightforward: big photographs of finished work, plain words about cost and time, and a quote form asking for the job, the postcode, the timing and the budget.

**Pages:** Home, Services, Projects, Get a quote, How we work.

Use this brief opens sign-up, then a new project with these words filled in. Change anything before you build.

### Why it is written this way

- Name your trades the way clients say them. 'Loft conversion' and 'kitchen extension' are searched; 'construction solutions' is not.
- Give the radius or the towns you cover. It saves you replying to jobs you cannot take.
- Say what happens after an enquiry. A visit and a quote within ten working days is a promise people can plan around.
- List real projects with places. 'Two-storey extension in Knaresborough' tells people you have done work like theirs nearby.

## How Briks builds a builder's website

Each step is something Briks does today. Follow a link for the details of each feature, including whether it needs a plan or a switch.

1. **Describe your firm**

Write the trades you cover, the area you work in, the size of jobs you take and how quotes work. Briks asks which pages you want before it builds, and anything your brief left open.

[Questions before building *On every plan*](https://briks.dev/features/questions-before-building)

2. **Show it a site you like**

Add a site whose layout you like, from any industry. Briks reads its layout, spacing, type and motion, and builds yours in that spirit with your own projects.

[Build from a site you like *On every plan*](https://briks.dev/features/build-from-sites-you-like)

3. **Quote requests that do not get lost**

Every quote request is kept in the studio, and once the site is in production each one is emailed to you. A webhook can pass each one to the tool you use for jobs.

[Forms that keep every entry *On every plan*](https://briks.dev/features/forms)

4. **Checked before it goes live**

Words are checked for readable contrast in the code before publishing. When you publish to production, a launch check looks for links that go nowhere.

[Checks before publishing *On every plan*](https://briks.dev/features/contrast-checks)

5. **Answer the same questions once**

Switch on the site chat and it answers from your published pages, such as which areas you cover, and emails you the questions it cannot answer.

[A chat on your site *Switch it on*](https://briks.dev/features/site-chat)

6. **Add finished projects**

When a job is finished, describe it in the studio chat and Briks adds it and publishes the change. Every change is a version you can undo.

[Changes in plain words *On every plan*](https://briks.dev/features/changes-in-plain-words)

7. **On your own domain**

On a paid plan, point your domain at Briks with an A record, a CNAME for www and a TXT record that proves it is yours. The certificate is issued and renewed automatically.

## Advice for a builder's website that wins work

- **Lead with finished work**

Before and after photographs, with the town and how long the job took, do more than any claim about quality. Pick five projects you are proud of and describe each in three sentences.

- **Be plain about cost and time**

People expect a range, not a price. Explain what drives the cost of an extension or a loft conversion, and how long each stage takes. Clients who understand the numbers are easier to work with.

- **Only show badges you hold**

Trade memberships, insurance and guarantees reassure clients, but only when they are real and current. Name them, and link to where they can be checked.

- **Keep the quote form short**

The job, the postcode, the timing, a budget range and a phone number are enough to call back. Ask the rest on the visit.

## Questions from builders and contractors

### Can clients request a quote through the site?

Yes. Briks builds quote and enquiry forms that keep every entry in the studio. Once the site is in production, each one is emailed to you, and a webhook can send it on to another tool.

### Can I add new projects myself?

Yes. Describe the finished job in the studio chat and Briks adds it and publishes the change. Upload your own photographs to the media library first and pick them from the prompt box.

### Can I use my existing domain?

Yes, on a paid plan from Starter. Add the A, CNAME and TXT records the studio shows you. They are re-checked every two minutes, and the certificate is issued and renewed automatically.

### Do I need my own photographs?

They matter most for a builder, because clients want to see your work. Briks makes pictures for the site to start with, and you can replace them from the media library as you go.
