# Accounts for your visitors, payments to your own account

A site that needs accounts lets its visitors sign up and sign in, and any site can take one-time payments and sell plans that renew through a payment processor of your own. Your keys go straight to the site's own server, and Briks takes no fee on what you sell.

## How it works

1. **Ask for it**

Ask for member accounts, a paid booking, a membership plan or something to buy, in the brief or as a change.

2. **Add your own keys**

In Project settings, switch on sign-in providers and connect your payment processor with your own keys.

3. **Orders arrive**

Buyers pay on the processor's own page, and each order and subscription shows in the Database tab.

## Sign-in for your visitors

When a site needs accounts, such as a members' area, a client portal or a dashboard for your team, its visitors sign up with an email address and a password by default. The address is confirmed by a link, a forgotten password is reset by an emailed link, and those emails go from your site's own address within your plan's monthly email allowance.

Under Sign-in in Project settings you can also switch on Google, Apple, Microsoft, GitHub, X, Facebook, LinkedIn and Discord. Each uses an app you make in that provider's console with your own keys, and the studio shows the exact callback addresses to give it, your own domain included. Each switch applies to the live site at once, with no build.

People who make an account are listed in the Database tab under Accounts, where you set each one's role to Member, Staff or Admin. A dashboard in production shows its data only to signed-in Staff and Admins.

## Payments to your own account

Connect your own payment processor under Payments in Project settings: Stripe, PayPal, Mollie or Razorpay, which switch on at once, or Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, Polar, Creem or Dodo Payments, which a free republish adds to that site alone. One processor takes payments at a time.

Keys are tried with the processor before they are saved, and test keys are labelled, so you can try a payment before taking real money. Buyers pay on the processor's own page, and refunds, tax and payouts stay in its dashboard. Briks takes no fee on your sales; the processor's own fees apply.

Each order appears in the Database tab under Orders, and paid orders count in the site's analytics under Money and members.

## Subscriptions

Sell plans that renew every month or every year, with an optional free trial of up to 365 days, into your own Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy account. Plans are records in your site's plans collection, which you edit in the Database tab. PayPal, Mollie, Razorpay, Creem and Dodo Payments take one-time payments only for now.

Members subscribe while signed in to your site and pay on the processor's own page, then manage or cancel their plan on the processor's own portal page. A cancelled plan runs to the end of the period paid for, and access continues while a failed renewal is retried. Pages can be kept for subscribers, or for subscribers of one plan.

The Database tab shows a Subscriptions view beside Orders: who subscribed, to which plan, its state, when it renews or ends, and the monthly income from running live plans. Under Payments in Project settings, each connected processor that sells plans is marked, and for Polar and Lemon Squeezy you name the monthly or yearly product a plan is charged as. You cancel or refund in your processor's own dashboard.

## Where your keys live

Every key goes straight to your published site's own server as a secret. The studio keeps only its name, who saved it and when, and never shows a saved key again. To change one, paste every key again.

Owners and Admins save keys and turn providers and processors on or off. Everyone in the project can see the settings.

## Shipping and physical goods

Physical goods are paid for like anything else, through Stripe, PayPal, Mollie or Razorpay. Ask for shipping, delivery charges or stock, and Briks builds them into your site with your own payment account, its keys kept under Secrets in Project settings. Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, Polar, Creem and Dodo Payments take software and digital products only, under their own rules.

## Sign-in and payments in practice

Three example businesses, and how each would use it. Where a site is pictured, it is a sample Briks built for an example business, not a customer.

1. Pottery studio

   **Paid places on a workshop**

A potter connects her own Stripe account with its test keys and asks for people to pay for a place when they book the Sunday wheel workshop. Her test booking shows under Orders, so she saves her live keys, and the next booking takes real money.

2. Business coach

   **A planning guide sold online**

A coach sells her planning guide through her own Lemon Squeezy account. Once her keys are saved, the Payments page names the currency her store charges in, so she keeps the site's price in pounds to match.

3. Garden centre

**A stock dashboard for the team**

A garden centre publishes its stock dashboard to production. The manager signs up on it, the owner gives that account the Staff role under Accounts, and from then on only the team sees the figures.

## What you get

- Email and password sign-in by default for sites that need accounts
- Google, Apple, Microsoft, GitHub, X, Facebook, LinkedIn and Discord with your own keys
- One-time payments through your own account at one of nine processors
- Plans that renew monthly or yearly through Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy
- Keys kept on your site's server, never in the studio
- No fee from Briks on your sales

### Good to know

- Plans that renew need Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy; the other processors take one-time payments only for now.
- Need shipping? Ask for it and Briks builds it into your site with your own payment account.
- GitHub takes one callback address, so its button shows only on the site's main address.
