On every plan

# It asks what it needs before it builds

A good designer asks questions first. Before a first build, Briks asks which pages your site should have and anything your brief left open, so the first version is closer to what you meant.

## How it works

1. **Describe your business**

Write what you do, who it is for and how it should feel.

2. **Answer a few questions**

Pick the pages you want and answer what is unclear, in chips or in your own words.

3. **Or let it decide**

Choose Decide for me and Briks makes the call for you.

## What it asks, and why

Every first build starts with one question: which pages should your site have? Briks offers the page names a business like yours usually has, with the home page first, and you tick the ones you want. You can add pages of your own, up to ten in all with the home page.

Then it reads your brief for gaps that would change what gets built. If you run a clinic and say nothing about how people get in touch, it asks whether visitors should send an enquiry, book, or call and email. If prices are usual in your trade and you gave none, it asks whether to show a price table, prices beside each service, or none at all. It can also ask about languages, about what leads the home page, and about facts your brief leaves out.

A question is asked only when a wrong guess would cost a whole change later, not a one-word edit. There are at most four on a first build, the pages included, and the same thing is never asked twice.

## Your answers become the brief

Answers are not suggestions. Each one is written into the brief as your decision, and the plan and the build follow it. Tick five pages and you get those five. Say prices beside each service and there is no price table.

Answer by tapping the chips, or type your answer in your own words and Briks reads it onto the questions. If you would rather not decide, choose Decide for me, and Briks takes its recommended answer for each question.

When your brief leaves out facts such as opening hours or an address, one question asks whether to write clearly marked samples for you to replace later, or to leave them out. Either way nothing invented reaches production quietly: the launch check asks you to replace or confirm anything made up before the site goes live.

## When it asks less, or not at all

A detailed brief gets fewer questions. If you wrote your pages, your prices and how people reach you, the only question left may be the page list. Being asked is never charged.

With a reference site, Briks does not ask about the layout, the look or what leads the page, because the site you showed already answers those. Dashboards skip the questions and go straight to the build.

You can switch the open questions off in the new-project steps. The page list is still asked, because it decides the shape of the whole site. And if the questions take too long to prepare, Briks asks for the pages on their own, so you are not kept waiting.

## Questions before building in practice

Three example businesses, and how each would use it. Where a site is pictured, it is a sample Briks built for an example business, not a customer.

1. Psychology practice

**A practice that never mentioned how clients get in touch**

A practice writes a warm brief about its therapists and its approach, but says nothing about how new clients make contact. Beyond the pages, Briks asks one question: should visitors send an enquiry, book, or call and email? The practice picks an enquiry, so the site leads with a short contact form rather than a calendar.

2. Bakery

**A bakery that unticks two pages and adds one**

The owner sees Home, Order online, Our bread, Wholesale, Visit us and About. She unticks Wholesale and About, then adds Cakes, because celebration cakes are half her trade. The plan has exactly those pages, and every one of them is in the menu when the site publishes.

3. Building contractor

**A builder who chooses Decide for me**

A building contractor is on site all day and answers from his phone. He ticks the pages, then taps Decide for me for the rest. Briks takes its recommended answers, writes them into the brief as his decisions, and starts the build. He can change any of it later in plain words.
