# Your profile, email, password and sign-in

Your account is yours alone and is the same in every workspace you belong to. This page covers the Profile page: your name, confirming and changing your email, your password, signing in with Google, the devices you are signed in on, Telegram, the theme, signing out and deleting your account.

## Open your profile

Where

1. Your name
2. Profile

Your name and email sit at the foot of the sidebar. Clicking them opens a small menu with **Profile**, the **Appearance** choices and **Sign out**. **Profile** opens a page that says "Your own account. It is the same in every workspace you belong to." Each section on it saves on its own and tells you what happened beside its button.

## Your name

1. Find Your details

   Where: Profile

The first section, **Your details**, shows the circle with your initials and your name and email. This is how teammates see you in every workspace.

2. Change the name

   Where: Profile

Edit **Name**. It can be up to 80 characters.

3. Save

   Where: Profile

Choose **Save**. **Saved** shows at the foot of the window, and your new name shows in **Members** of every workspace you are in.

Your picture is the initials of your name. There is no photo upload.

## Confirming your email

Every account confirms its email before it can sign in. When you create an account, Briks sends a link to your address. Open it within 24 hours: it confirms the address, signs you in and takes you on to where you were going, such as an invitation. If you try to sign in before confirming, a fresh link is sent and you see **Check your inbox**.

On your profile, the **Email** section shows your address with a **Confirmed** or **Not confirmed** tag.

Tip

Nothing arrived? Check spam first, then sign in again to get a new link. The confirmation goes to the exact address you typed, so a typo means it went nowhere: create the account again with the right one.

## Signing in with Google

**Continue with Google** on the sign-in and sign-up pages signs you in with your Google account, with no password to make and no email to confirm. If you already have a Briks account with that email, Google signs you in to it. More in [Create your account](https://briks.dev/docs/create-your-account).

An account made with Google has no Briks password, so a few parts of the profile differ:

- **Email** says: Your account signs in with Google, so its email is your Google account's and cannot be changed here. There is no **Change email** button.
- **Password** shows **No password**: Your account signs in with Google, so there is no password to change here.
- **Delete account** asks you to type your email to confirm, in **Your email**, instead of a password.

## Change your email

1. Choose Change email

   Where: Profile, Email

A window called **Change your email** opens.

2. Enter the new address

   Where: Change your email

Fill in **New email** and your **Current password**, then choose **Send link**.

3. Open the link at the new address

   Where: Your inbox

Open it within 24 hours. Until you do, you keep signing in with your current email. If the new address already has a Briks account, nothing is sent.

4. Back on your profile

   Where: Profile

The link brings you back to your profile with "Your new email is confirmed. Sign in with it from now on."

Good to know

If the link fails, the profile says why. "That link has expired. Ask for a new one." means start again. "That link is for another account. Sign out, then open it again." means you are signed in as someone else in this browser.

## Change your password

1. Enter your current password

   Where: Profile, Password

   Type it into **Current password**.

2. Choose a new one

   Where: Profile, Password

Type it into **New password** and again into **Confirm new password**. It needs at least 8 characters. If the two do not match, the page says so before you can save.

3. Decide about other devices

   Where: Profile, Password

**Sign out of other devices. This one stays signed in.** is ticked for you. Leave it ticked if you are changing the password because something felt wrong.

4. Save

   Where: Profile, Password

Choose **Change password**. The page confirms it, and says whether your other devices were signed out.

Forgotten password

On the sign-in page, choose **Forgot password?** and enter the email you sign in with. If that address has a Briks account, we email it a link to choose a new password. The link works for an hour and only once; ask for a new one if it has expired. Setting a new password signs your account out on every device, so you then sign in again with it.

The section's own advice is good advice: use at least 8 characters, and a password you use nowhere else. If you share a workspace with a team, each person signs in with their own account. There is no reason to share one login, and sharing makes it impossible to tell who changed what.

## Signed-in devices

**Signed-in devices** lists everywhere your account is signed in now, with this one first and tagged **This device**. Each row shows the browser and system, the day it signed in, when it was last active (**Active now**, **Active in the last day** or a date) and the network address it came from.

- **Sign out** on a row signs out that one device.
- **Sign out of all other devices** signs out everything except the device you are using.
- A device that goes unused for 30 days is signed out on its own.

If you do not recognise a device, sign it out and change your password.

## Telegram and approval requests

The **Telegram** section links your account to the Briks bot, so you can ask for changes, answer questions, approve steps and publish from Telegram, with your role in each workspace. **Connect Telegram** opens the bot with a link that works once, for 10 minutes: press **Start** there to finish. You can also save a **Mobile number** with its country code, and share it with the bot to link by phone after we email you to confirm. The walkthrough is in [Telegram](https://briks.dev/docs/telegram).

Once Telegram is connected, **Agent approval requests** sets where your agents ask before they act: **By email**, **On Telegram** or **Both**. On Telegram you approve or reject with a button. See [Approvals and budgets](https://briks.dev/docs/agent-approvals).

## Theme and signing out

Under **Preferences**, **Theme** sets how the studio looks on this device: **System** follows your device's own setting, or pick **Light** or **Dark**. The same choice is in the account menu at the foot of the sidebar, under **Appearance**, as **Match the system**, **Light** and **Dark**. The theme is kept per device, so your laptop and phone can differ.

To sign out, open the account menu at the foot of the sidebar and choose **Sign out**. You land on the sign-in page.

## Delete your account

**Delete account** is in the **Danger zone** at the foot of your profile. Deleting signs you out everywhere and cannot be undone. Workspaces you share stay with their other members, and what you made in them passes to their Owners. Any workspace that is yours alone and empty is deleted with your account, and the page names it before you confirm.

1. Clear anything in the way

   Where: Profile, Danger zone

The button is greyed out while you are the only Owner of a workspace that still has other people or projects in it. The page lists each one with links to its **Members** and **Projects**: make someone else an Owner there, or empty it. It is also greyed out while something you started is still running.

2. Choose Delete account

   Where: Profile, Danger zone

A window asks **Delete your account?** and repeats what goes with it.

3. Confirm

   Where: Delete your account?

Enter your **Password**, or your email in **Your email** if you sign in with Google, and choose **Delete account**. You are signed out and taken to briks.dev.

### Is my name the same in every workspace?

Yes. Your name, email and password belong to your account, not to a workspace.

### I changed my email. Do my teammates need to do anything?

No. You keep the same roles in the same workspaces, and **Members** shows your new address.

### I signed in on a shared computer and forgot to sign out.

Open **Signed-in devices** on your profile from your own device and choose **Sign out** beside that one.

### Can I sign in without a password?

Yes, with **Continue with Google** on the sign-in page. Otherwise you sign in with your email and password. There is no sign-in by code.

### Why is Delete account greyed out?

You are the only Owner of a workspace with other people or projects in it, or something you started is still running. The page says which.
