# AI app builders that sync with GitHub

Nine AI app builders on GitHub: sync, export or neither, on which plan, and what the code can do away from them.

**Lovable, Bolt, Base44, v0 and Briks sync your app's code with GitHub both ways; Replit pushes and pulls from its Git pane; Hostinger AI Builder exports the full code; Bubble, Softr and Glide do not export code.** The plan matters too: Lovable and v0 sync on their free plans, Base44 from Builder and Briks from Starter.

Sync is not the whole question. The code in the repository may or may not run without the builder, and that decides how free you really are. This post covers both. Briks is on the list and it is ours; its section says what it does not do.

## Export, push and two-way sync

Builders use “GitHub” to mean three different things, and the difference shows up the day a developer joins:

- **A download or export:** a snapshot of the code at one moment. From then on, the copy and the app drift apart.
- **A one-way push:** the builder writes its changes to a repository, but edits made in GitHub do not come back.
- **Two-way sync:** a change in either place shows up in the other. A developer can fix something in GitHub while you keep asking the AI for changes.

With two-way sync, also ask what happens when both sides change the same file. A good builder tells you and lets you choose, rather than overwriting history.

## Why keep an AI-built app in GitHub

- **A copy you hold.** If the builder changes its prices or closes, your code is on your own account.
- **Every change on record.** Each commit says what changed and when, so you can see what the AI did and go back.
- **A developer can help.** They work in GitHub with their own tools, and review a change before it goes live.
- **Your other tools connect to it.** Tests, checks and other services that read a repository work as they do for any code.

## The nine at a glance

GitHub and code export in nine AI app builders, as each vendor's own pages described them on 23 October 2026. “Not stated” means the pages we read did not say.

| Builder | GitHub | On which plan | Download |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Lovable | Two-way sync | Every plan, free included | Needs Pro |
| Bolt | Two-way sync | Not stated | A zip of the project |
| Base44 | Two-way sync | From Builder | Not stated |
| v0 | Sync | Every plan, free included | Export to run elsewhere |
| Replit | Push and pull from the Git pane | Not stated | Not stated |
| Hostinger AI Builder | No sync named | Every plan | Full code export |
| Bubble | None | None | No code; the app's logic as a file, and your data |
| Softr | None | None | No code |
| Glide | None | None | No code; project files listed only on Enterprise |

Five of the nine keep a repository in step; three keep the app on their own platform.

Briks is left out of the table, as it is ours: it syncs both ways from Starter and downloads a zip on paid plans. More on it below.

## What to check before you rely on it

1. **Whose repository it is.** It should live on your own GitHub account or organisation, private if you like, so access does not end with the subscription.
2. **Which plan includes it.** Several builders put sync on a paid plan, and the download on another.
3. **Whether the code runs elsewhere.** Some builders hand over a complete app; others keep shared parts, sign-in or the database on their platform, so the repository is a record of your code rather than an app you can host anywhere.
4. **What a push does.** On some builders, a commit to the branch is published to the live site. That is convenient, and it means a mistake in GitHub goes live too.
5. **Where the data is.** The code is not the records. Check how to download the database, separately from the repository.
6. **What stays out.** Keys and passwords should never be written into the repository. A builder that refuses a commit with a secret in it is doing you a favour.

## Which to choose

- **You or a developer will code, and want to host anywhere:** v0 or Hostinger AI Builder hand over code that runs on its own; Lovable and Bolt sync both ways.
- **You will not code, but want a developer able to step in:** Lovable, Bolt, Base44 or Briks, with two-way sync.
- **Your app is built on spreadsheets or a visual editor and you will stay:** Softr, Glide and Bubble are fine, knowing the app does not leave.

## How Briks does it

Briks is our product, so read this with that in mind. On paid plans, a project connects to a repository and branch on your own GitHub account or organisation, or opens GitHub to make a private one named after your site.

![Briks project settings: Repository, not connected, with a Connect GitHub button and a note that only the site's own files go there](https://briks.dev/marketing/studio/own-github-light-976.webp)

GitHub in a Briks project's settings: only the site's own files go to the repository, never its settings or keys. See the [GitHub guide](https://briks.dev/docs/github).

- **Both ways:** each version that goes live becomes one commit on the branch, whether it came from the AI, a hand edit or a restore. A push to the branch is published on your site, with no AI and no credits.
- **Never force-pushed:** the first commit replaces only the site's own folders, and nothing in the repository's history is lost. When both sides changed the same file, nothing is overwritten: Briks puts its version on a `briks-sync` branch for you to merge, or an Owner or Admin chooses which to keep.
- **Safety first:** a push that writes a secret key into a file, or reads one in a visitor's browser, is refused before it goes live.
- **What goes there:** only your site's own files, the ones the studio's file list shows. Keys, settings and the database's records never go to GitHub.
- **Plans:** sync and the zip download come with paid plans, from Starter at $16 a month.
- **Where it falls short:** the shared parts every Briks site runs on stay out of the repository, so it does not build or run on its own. Briks builds and publishes what you push. If you need an app to host anywhere, v0 or Hostinger AI Builder fit better.

## Quick answers

### Can I edit AI-built code in GitHub and keep using the AI?

Yes, with two-way sync. Edits made in GitHub come back to the builder, and the next AI change starts from them.

### Does exporting the code mean I can leave?

Only if the code runs on its own. Check whether sign-in, the database and hosting come with it, or stay on the builder.

### Is a private repository supported?

On the builders that connect your own GitHub account, yes: the repository's visibility is yours to set in GitHub.

### Is GitHub sync free in AI app builders?

On some. Lovable and v0 sync on their free plans. Base44 syncs from Builder, and Briks from Starter, its first paid plan.

### Do I need to know Git to use it?

No. The builder writes the commits for you. You only need a GitHub account, and someone who knows Git can take over the repository when you want.

## Where to start

Connect a test repository on the free plan where you can, make one change on each side and watch both arrive.
